Each time you move the squares in one direction, a new square with the number 2 will appear. When you combine two squares with the same value, they turn into one square with the combined value of the two previous squares. So if you combine two squares of 16, for example, you'll get 32, and so on.

With these 'simple' rules, you have to try to get as high of a number as possible, combining squares until you get a value of 2048 (which is the name of the game). And getting there won't be easy, since you'll have to think carefully before making any moves.
